ResearchGate and American Psychological Association Announce Journal Home Partnership for Full Portfolio

May 8, 2025

Berlin (Germany) and Washington (USA) May 8, 2025 – ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, and the American Psychological Association (APA), the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, have announced a new Journal Home partnership. The partnership covers APA’s full portfolio of 88 journals, increasing accessibility, readership, and author engagement on a global scale.

With more than 135 years of experience in research and publishing, APA disseminates essential psychological content to a broad readership community across the fields of research, education, practice, and general wellbeing. The Journal Home partnership builds on APA’s historical agreement with ResearchGate, that covered more than 300,000 back-file articles being available on the platform, and will see APA’s entire journal portfolio – including their flagship title American Psychologist – benefit from:

  • New opportunities to engage with authors throughout the research cycle and post-publication, growing existing author communities and attracting new authors.
  • Improved author experience with articles automatically uploaded to authors' ResearchGate profiles, giving them unique insights into their readers and providing new opportunities to engage with their audience.
  • Strengthened brand presence through dedicated journal profile pages that make key journal information and insights into their communities easily understandable.
  • Increased visibility and accessibility for journals through highly relevant touchpoints with ResearchGate members across the platform.
  • Deeper understanding of journal audiences through detailed reporting and advanced metrics for each APA journal.
  • High visibility, engagement and usage for their article content, with immediate syndication of new journal content to ResearchGate’s community of over 25 million researcher members.

“Our new Journal Home partnership allows APA’s journals to reach and engage with the global psychological research community more effectively, helping further to connect the international community of scholars, practitioners, and students with psychological research in new and impactful ways,” said Aaron Wood, Head of Product & Content Management, APA Publishing. By integrating our full portfolio into Journal Home, we’re making it even easier for researchers to discover, access, and contribute to high-quality psychological scholarship. Widespread sharing of this knowledge doesn’t just advance the future of psychology; it improves the lives of those impacted by this research.”

“We are delighted to expand our collaboration with APA to build even greater global engagement for their extensive world-leading portfolio through Journal Home,” said Sören Hofmayer, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at ResearchGate. “Not only will this partnership increase the visibility and accessibility of APA’s titles, but it will support them in amplifying the voices of their authors around the world. From pioneering studies on mental health to research that informs psychological best practices, APA’s journals play a crucial role in advancing the field, and we are excited to support them in bringing that research to the communities that will benefit from it.”
