ResearchGate and IWA Publishing announce Journal Home pilot to support global discovery of water research

December 4, 2025

Berlin (Germany) and London (UK), December 4, 2025 – ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, and IWA Publishing, part of the International Water Association, and a leading publisher on all aspects of water, wastewater and the environment since 1966, today announced their pilot to drive high-quality authorship and readership through ResearchGate’s pioneering Journal Home product.

This aligns with IWA Publishing’s mission, rooted in supporting the global water community, “to deliver critical insights and promote sustainable water management, helping researchers achieve global impact and advance water management practices for communities worldwide”. Journal Home will support a total of 12 water research and environmental science journals from the IWA Publishing portfolio, offering innovative features to promote quality submissions, readership, and discoverability. Benefits include:

  • All open version-of-record articles from participating journals will be immediately available to ResearchGate’s community of over 25 million researchers, enhancing visibility, discoverability, and seamless engagement with IWA Publishing content.
  • Contextualised communication with the right researchers at the right time, nurturing important relationships throughout every stage of the research cycle to increase authorship and article usage from highly relevant researcher communities.
  • Dedicated Journal Profiles, including with Water Science & Technology, Water Reuse and Journal of Water & Climate Change, that enable unique exploration of an author’s interconnectedness with the journal, promoting meaningful engagement with key IWA Publishing content to improve brand visibility, recognition, and trust.
  • Exclusive author services designed to enhance platform usability and facilitate deeper author-reader engagement, including automatic article uploads to member profiles and unique impact metrics to help authors better understand the reach of their research.

“We are delighted to welcome IWA Publishing to Journal Home and help promote the IWA Publishing journals for greater international readership and usage,” said Sebastian Darr, Global Head of Business Development at ResearchGate. “With Journal Home’s expansive network and unique accessibility features, IWA Publishing’s authors can be confident that their work will reach the widest possible audience and achieve strong engagement.”
