ResearchGate and The Company of Biologists announce new Journal Home partnership for entire biology journal portfolio

April 23, 2026

Berlin (Germany) and Cambridge (UK), 23 April, 2026 – ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, and The Company of Biologists, a not-for-profit publisher dedicated to supporting and inspiring the biological sciences community, have today announced a new Journal Home partnership covering The Company of Biologists' complete portfolio of peer-reviewed journals across all areas of biology. The partnership also includes the addition of the powerful Open Access Agreement Upgrade (OAAU) from launch.

Open access is central to this partnership. With the full portfolio launched through Journal Home, the ability to discover and access The Company of Biologists’ journals will be increased. Additionally, through the OAAU, they will be able to also continuously reach researchers who are eligible to publish open access through their institutional agreements, increasing awareness of available OA funding pathways and driving greater uptake across the portfolio. The OAAU enables this by providing The Company of Biologists with:

  • Targeted audience intelligence: A detailed understanding of which researchers at eligible institutions are most relevant to The Company of Biologists' journals, based on their publishing history and areas of research.
  • Direct reach to eligible researchers: The ability to inform researchers from partner institutions about their eligibility to receive funding support at the point when it matters most.
  • Continuous visibility: Read-and-Publish messaging delivered to researchers throughout their interactions on ResearchGate – whether reading an article, visiting a journal profile, searching their feed, or updating their own profile.
  • Sophisticated reporting and analytics: The ability to measure the volume and effectiveness of agreement messaging at every stage of the publishing journey, from readership through to authorship.

"As a not-for-profit publisher, our mission is to support and inspire the biological sciences community, and this Journal Home partnership gives our journals a targeted new way to connect with researchers around the world,” said Shelly Turner, Sales and Marketing Director, The Company of Biologists. “Reaching highly relevant researchers within ResearchGate's global network will significantly strengthen the visibility and impact of our content. The Open Access Agreement Upgrade is a particularly important addition. By surfacing our institutional Read & Publish agreements to eligible researchers at the right moment, we can help ensure that publishing openly in our journals is as accessible and straightforward as possible."

"We're delighted to welcome The Company of Biologists to Journal Home and to be activating the Open Access Agreement Upgrade from day one," said Robyn Mugridge, Head of Partnership Development, ResearchGate. "Journal Home will ensure that institutional Read-and-Publish agreements are clearly identified at the moments that matter most, helping The Company of Biologists establish direct pathways for their author community to publish openly.”
