ResearchGate and Hindawi: Partnering to put researchers first

October 20, 2021

Progress in science is reliant on information being quickly accessible and shareable. For researchers, this means not only being able to read new research as it is published, but also being able to share their own work to ensure it has the maximum impact on their field. All too often, however, new discoveries and knowledge are hidden behind paywalls, while pay-to-publish schemes may keep them from being published altogether. It’s no wonder that researchers often feel that the publishing industry operates behind closed doors.

In contrast, we believe the future of scientific publishing is open — and that’s why we are so pleased to announce our new content syndication partnership with open-access publisher Hindawi. This new partnership, which launched on October 14, makes all new research published in Hindawi’s journals available on the ResearchGate platform immediately, and will see all back content (comprising over 290K articles) from across Hindawi’s portfolio fully available on ResearchGate by the end of 2021.

This increased availability of research will aid in a seamless discovery process that maximizes visibility for researchers and their work, and ensures valuable information has the widest possible reach. ResearchGate members will be able to find the version of record for all Hindawi articles directly on our platform, as well as add the full texts to their Saved Lists for easy access later. Accessing articles through ResearchGate also provides the unique opportunity to directly connect with publication authors (provided they’re also on ResearchGate).

While many publishers are seen as putting up barriers for researchers, Hindawi is known for taking them down. As the first publisher to transition all its subscription journals to an open-access model, Hindawi is a leader in promoting innovation through Open Science frameworks. With a portfolio of 230+ peer-reviewed, open-access journals, Hindawi seeks to maximize the reach, impact, and visibility of published research. Additionally, its APC waiver scheme helps to ensure that publishing is possible for researchers working in lower-resource settings.

Putting the researcher first is — and has always been — at the heart of what we do. We feel we’ve found a like-minded partner in Hindawi, and we’re excited to see how this collaboration will further connect our community, push the boundaries of openness, and drive research forward.
