Same page, new look — Institution Page spring cleaning

May 2, 2022

Your organization’s content in front of researchers — now with a fresh and modern design

Your organization’s institution page on ResearchGate is the central place for all your content. It is the place that brings together your organization’s information, the researchers who work at your institution, and the content you’ve made available to the scientific community through Sponsored Content.

Over the last months, we’ve been working hard to modernize the Institution Page. We shifted the focus to the most used features, removed features that are no longer working, and updated  the look so your organization’s presence on ResearchGate is as current as possible.

So, what’s changed?

Addition by subtraction

To keep your organization’s information most up-to-date, we are removing some features, including:

  • Total RG Score: The RG Score has been a mainstay of our researcher profiles since 2012, but we’ve decided to retire the metric after July 2022. As a result, we’re removing an organization’s Total RG Score from their pages in this update.
  • Departments: With researchers changing departments often, information related to institutions can quickly become out of date. Organizations want their platform presence to stay as current as possible, so we’re removing Departments from Institution Pages. Individual researchers can continue to update their affiliations and be visible on an organization’s top-level page.
  • Collaborations: Growing numbers of collaborations between institutions' researchers makes this data increasingly challenging to display and keep up to date. We've therefore retired the "Top collaborating institutions" and "Collaborations map" on all Institution Pages.

Staying top of mind

New features will encourage researchers to engage with Institution Pages, including:

  • A fresh look: The Institution Page is your organization’s presence on ResearchGate — we know you want it to look the best it can. With our new, streamlined design, your page will benefit from a more modern look.
  • Recent publications: Publication pages have been a pillar of Institution Pages. By removing other features, “Recent publications” are now front and center.
  • Social engagement: A full suite of social engagements including “share”, “recommend”, and “follow” now means researchers are actively following updates about your organization.

Your organization is part of the scientific community and needs to look the part. We are thrilled to be able to present this clean, modern Institution Page update to thousands of organizations and institutions on ResearchGate.
